Gathering of Pearls Study Guide: Chapters 13-18
 
Chapter 13
1. Describe Marci’s relationship with her parents. She do not want to listen to her parents. Because her parents do not really care about what did she think. 
2. What advice does Marci give Sookan in dealing with her sister?
Like what she did for her parents just stay there and do nothing. 
3. Do you think Sookan will follow Marci’s advice? No she still feel guilty about her sister. 
Chapter 14
1. What does Sister Reed give to Sookan and why? Necklace 
2. What important event happens to Ellen in this chapter? They decide to married. 
3. How do her parents react? They get angry 
4. Sookan stands up to Ellen in this chapter and defends her parents. DO you agree or disagree with Sookan’s position? Why? No because she should not get into Ellen family business. 
Chapter 15
1. Explain why Sookan has conflicting emotions (positive and negative) regarding the experiences she has in this chapter. She still hs trouble with her sister and she still need to face the presence form the family and the collage. 
2. What would you have done if you were in her position? I do not think I am strong enough to face those, but I may simply cut the connection with her sister. 
Chapter 16
1. As Sookan reflects on her freshman year pf college, what do you think she has accomplished? A lot of work. Like the history class and. She made a lot of friends. 
2. How has she changed? She become outgoing and stronger. 
Chapter 17
1. Father Leegives Sookan some sad news – what is it? She Mather pass away. 
2. How does Sookan react? She feel so sad. 
Chapter 18
1. At the end of the book, Sookan looks back at her experience as a whole. What does she realize? Family is a group, and what she choice is can not be changed. 
2. If you could give some advice to Sookan at this point in her life, what would it be?
